If it's possible for anyone to be unaware of the great food at B.J. Clancy's, you need to find out about the place.
Since my relocation from Portland, Ore., to the Fox Cities, I remain particularly fond of B.J. Clancy's. I am accustomed to deep jewel toned interiors bordered in various trims, dark green upholstery coupled with soft cushions and heavy tables that don't wobble. Subdued lighting, interesting wall decor and booths with backs high enough to afford the privacy I prefer when dining with a friend. Did I mention excellent service? All can be found here.
My favorite dish on the menu is the Teriyaki Chicken. This boneless breast of chicken marinated in teriyaki sauce served on blended wild rice and covered in grilled pineapple is a little piece of heaven priced at $8.99 for one breast or $10.49 for two. All dinners come with the traditional choice of salad or soup, and choice of potato, wild rice blend or hot, buttered vegetables.
B.J. Clancy's offers something for every pallet. Choose from a wide variety of salads that round out a light meal or become a meal within itself when served with a basket of hot, soft dinner rolls. If steak is your preference, the filet of sirloin is said to be their most popular steak and is available for $13.99. Or you can choose from the 6 oz. petite cut at $7.99 or the slightly larger 10 oz. cattleman's cut for $9.99. I've had the London broil, which is tender sirloin blanketed with a hearty mushroom sauce at $8.99, and it's wonderful.
If combination dinners are more to your liking, they have several: steak and Cajun lime-broiled chicken for $9.99, steak and haddock for $9.99 or steak and lake perch for $10.79 and of course, steak and shrimp for $9.99
For the sandwich crowd, the choices seem endless and the only problem diners is trying to choose. The Milano, priced at $5.69, is my favorite and consists of fresh ground beefsteak, broiled to order, crowned with melted mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses and their special Italian sauce. It is served open-faced on grilled marbled rye. Sandwich prices range from $4.99 for a California Burger to $6.49 for the Chicken Sandwich.
Children's and senior citizens' menus are available.
B.J. Clancy's includes an interactive entertainment pub where you can pit your trivia knowledge against other players all across the country. You also can actually interact with live TV football games via satellite. The restaurant offers a complimentary popcorn and chip and cheese dip bar with the purchase of drinks.
