A Polish restaurant with one of the best Friday fish fries in town, Polonez's chef and co-owner (with wife Aleksandra) George Burzynski was named a "chef to watch" by restaurant critic Ann Christenson in Milwaukee Magazine's Best Dining issue in 2003. His recipes for pierogies, stuffed cabbage, and creamed herring came with him from the old country, which he left in 1980. Recognized by the Travel Channel by Andrew Zimmer "Bizarre Food" when the program focused on traditional foods in Wisconsin.
